Modern R8-million community hall opened at Tshikhudini village

The traditional leader of Tshikhudini village, near Folovhodwe, Vhamusanda Vho Piet Munyai, urged fellow traditional leaders to work closely with the government to bring development to their villages. Vho Munyai addressed politicians, representatives of community stakeholders, and villagers during the official handover of the completed Tshikhudini Community Hall last Friday.

Elim family fed-up with VDM's inability to fix sewer

A resident of Elim Mingati, Ms Julia Miyeni, is now fed up with complaining about a blocked sewer that is causing her home to flood. Whenever the family steps into the kitchen to cook a meal, they have to tiptoe on a slippery floor filled with faeces. The family members have not been able to enjoy their food because of the smell.

Stock thieves point firearm at goat farmer

A caretaker at a farm, Anesu Munemo, said he was thunderstruck when stock thieves pointed a firearm at him and fled the scene when their attempt to steal goats had failed. The thugs left the carcasses of two goats in the kraal before fleeing in a white bakkie in the early hours of last Saturday morning. The incident happened at a smallholding near the Harper Islamic Centre, Musina.

R16-million more set aside for Thohoyandou's intermodal facility

Yet another R16-million is about to be pumped into the infamous Thohoyandou taxi rank, also described as an “intermodal transport facility”. The project was started some 14 years ago, with R350-million spent on what consumers describe as a really expensive “white elephant”.

Our village is not a dumping site for bodies

The recent discovery of a body in the bushes at Khalavha outside Siloam has raised concerns and angered the local community. The body, later identified as that of Mr Tshifhiwa Mushweu of Vhutuwangadzebu in Dzanani, was discovered by a passerby in bushes on Tuesday, 2 April at about 18:35. He went missing on Sunday, 31 March, after receiving a call from an unknown person.
