Vukosi to vie for Miss Commonwealth SA

A local model, Vukosi Makhubele (19), has qualified to participate in the prestigious national pageant where she will vie for the Miss Commonwealth South Africa title.

Vukosi is one of the top 30 semifinalists in this year's competition. The grand finale takes place at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on 12 September.

“I feel very honoured to be part of this change,” she said. “I am happy to have arrived where I am today.”

According to the organisers, the pageant empowers women with the knowledge to bring about change to communities in need. The winner will then represent South Africa at the international pageant in London in November.

Vukosi is not knew to pageants and winning crowns. She was crowned Miss Giyani 2014/5 on 27 December 2014. She was also chosen to participate in cultural activities at school, doing western parade for Theocentric Christian College from circuit to provincial level.

“That was when I discovered my love for modeling, in 2010,” she said. “I was crowned Miss Msengi High School 2012.”

As part of her responsibilities as semifinalist, she is currently raising funds for Pink Drive, a breast cancer awareness campaign which does breast cancer health education and mammograms free of charge for women without medical insurance.

“I believe that change is the only thing that brings progress,” she concludes.

She is being sponsored by Joe Matsila Guest House. She was born and bred at N`wamatatani village.
