The talent of a young VenRap artist, Prifix, aka Tendani Mathaga, is quickly gaining momentum after the release of his debut album, Born and Raised.

The album boasts 15 tracks. In the song Funanani, Tendani's gift as a storyteller is apparent and amazing. There are more standout songs, such as Born and RaisedVhutshilo ho shanduka, and Rudzani.

The 21-year-old Tendani was born and raised in Mapate village, south of Thohoyandou. His journey as a singer started with collaborations with different musicians and he ended up becoming well known in the music industry.

“I started writing songs at 17, working with different people from different recording labels in different places,” he said. “But as a result of my being a solo musician with no one to call a manager, my musical journey became a very hard mountain to climb.”

“Not making it today doesn't mean you won't make it in future,” he advises. “Show the world that you can still make it. In every disappointment there is an appointment of you and something good about to happen; only God knows.”

Tendani had to endure many rejections, or what he calls “disappointments”, before he was recognised and got a deal as an artist with Mos-Bee Record. “I want to thank Tshivhidzo Raymond Mulalo (well-known as Lavhutanu Li Do Swika) and Phalanndwa Goodman Mos-Bee Mpfariseni for recognising my talent,” he said.

He said that the platform of a singer gave him an opportunity to tell the world through his music that all challenges and problems could be defeated.

“Changing people's lives through the music that I make is the main focus of my album,” he said. “The focus is not only on telling the world how I was born and raised but also to educate people on how to overcome difficult situations in our families, relationships and in everyday life events that we face.”

Tendani can be reached through his manager at 0762818736 or 0716054657.
