If you thought musicians cannot write books you had better think again. Popular Afro-Jazz singer Muofhe Lavine Mulovhedzi, well-known as Muofhe, will be launching her first published novel, titled Waiting on Tomorrow, at Thulamela Library tomorrow (Saturday). The event will start at 11:00.

Waiting on Tomorrow is a fictional English novel through which Muofhe taps into different worlds. The book aims to teach young people and adults.

She said that her novel was based on the depth and extent of forgiveness. She said she challenged the norms and ideals of society through her book. When asked what had inspired her to write the book, she said she wanted to explore the extent of forgiveness while challenging herself. Her passion for writing grew when she was in high school, where she entered many writing and poetry competitions.

The Ndzhiyeni hit-maker told Limpopo Mirror that she was not leaving music for writing. “I am not going to quit music,” she added. “Music and books are the platforms I use to make a difference in people’s lives.”

Her released her debut album, Mysteries of Love,  earlier this year. She said she was excited when her music was recognised by receiving five nominations at the third Tshivenda Music Awards in August.

The multi-talented singer and writer from Mukula village said her background would never stop her from changing her dreams into reality. She is the oldest child of Mrs Sewela Mathaba and Mr Walter Mulovhedzi and is currently studying for a degree in communications at the University of South Africa.
