Makhadzi & Racha Kill launch albums

The music fraternity resonated with songs after the release of two albums from two different singers who only happened to share the recording studio.

The 18-year-old singer Ndivhudzannyi 'Makhadzi' Ralivhona, who has created a persona for herself, launched her 14-track album, Yo Shoma, a fortnight ago. It comprises songs such as Thoho yanga iya rema, Volume, Khosi a hu dzheni inwe, I didn't know, and Ni nga si tsha muwana.

“I have worked hard on this new album, you know, as I am not one to disappoint my fans,” she said. “I have learnt that self-respect and respect for other people is paramount if you want to see success in the music industry."

She indicated that it was the first time that she had released an album with more than 10 songs. She features some hip hop, and Afro-pop beat fusion on this album. In the song Ndo malwa kule, she dreams about getting married in far-away countries and not within South Africa. “Listen to the song and draw your own conclusion,” she smiled. “In Ndo malwa kule, I am also trying to demonstrate that even people who come from outside South Africa are still people like us.”

In another song, Mukula, she pays tribute to the school from which she had matriculated. The school is Mukula Integrated School.

She is currently studying for a public relations qualification.

Makhadzi's manager, Rita Dee, said that they had worked very hard on the album and it was doing well commercially. "I can confidently announce that as the youth, we have taken over the reigns of the music industry. No one is going to play us tricky games for what we have sweated day and night for."

Racha Kill released his long-awaited album, Ndivho na Vhutali, on the same day that Makhadzi's album was launched.

“I am glad that people find my work enjoyable,” he said. “There comes a time in life that you understand that the work you cook in the confines of a recording studio needs to be taken out to people. And this is exactly what we have done with my album. Now it's for people to decide...”
He said that he believed that without ndivho na vhutali (knowledge and wisdom) people got lost. “We all need a certain measure of wisdom and a certain amount of knowledge to achieve some of our dreams,” he asserted.

Racha Kill has featured other VenRap artists such as Ramzeey, Mizo Phyll, Shintilizer, Makhadzi, and Blazer and Crazy Frazer. The album boasts 15 amazing tracks, such as Inner views, Kule, If I die young, Xenophobia, Magaraba and O themba.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. He is a prolific writer who published his first book, titled A Traumatic Revenge in 2011. It focusses on life on the street and how to survive amidst poverty. His second book titled The Violent Gestures of Life was published in 2014.
