Tshinombeloni Family give back to community

Well-known Tshivenda music group Tshinombeloni Family, which has produced quality dance music over the years, recently released their fourth offering, Tshinombeloni Family Volume 4- Vho Nyamasindi.

The CD comprises eight tracks and is the fruit of three years of labour. The two members of the group are the Mathoho brothers, Reckson (50) and Godfrey (53) of Tshivhulani outside Thohoyandou. The album was released at the beginning of November and it is very popular at music outlets and all community gatherings. It boasts touchy songs, such as the title track, Vho Nyamasindi and Maipfi a Muthu, which promise to be a big treat for Tshivenda music lovers this Christmas.

Reckson Mathoho, who works as a house keeper for Change Forever Foundation, a transit place for ex-offenders before they are reintegrated into their communities, said the distance between him and his brother had made it difficult for them to come up with a new album. “We hardly have time together and this gives us very limited time to rehearse new songs, but out of the little time we had together, we managed to come out with this truly Tshivenda sound. We are happy that people appreciate this music and this is proven by the demand for the new album."

Reckson further urged his fans to support them by buying original music and not buying CDs on street pavements. “We are helping the girls at Tshivhulani Primary School by providing them with sanitary towels, and this project needs funds. We do not have a sponsor. The little that we get from our music goes towards the project and we are appealing to our fans to support us, so that we can help others,” he said.
