During the day, he is a hardworking policeman who is dedicated to his work without compromise. But during weekends and after hours, Robert Tshidino Nemukhwathoni of Vondwe village will make you laugh until you cry.

This is because this warrant officer, who is attached to the SAPS in Sibasa, has a rare talent of entertaining others by impersonating people. His act as a woman is well known at social gatherings in Vhembe.

When he starts his performances, most people will mistake him for a woman until they recognize his voice. Nemukhwathoni recently left everyone in stitches and at a recent event at Mukula, he ascended the stage in a dress, wig, earrings, handbag, women’s shoes and some attractive make-up. Like a model, he walked around proudly greeting people with a big smile on his face.

Asked where he got the women's clothing from, Nemukhwathoni quickly responded: “All the attire belongs to my wife, Salphinah. She is very supportive of what I do. She is the one who dressed me before I came here and my kids were responsible for all the make-up. My wife and kids never miss my performances because they really love what I do.”

He says he sometimes gets invitations to perform at other events around his home village.  “Despite my busy schedule as a policeman, I give myself time to practice and come up with new tactics to make the audience happy. I welcome any invitation to perform as long as it does not interfere with my day-to-day work as a policeman.”
