Chris Mbekwa, an ordained senior pastor of Tabernacle of Worship in Musina, will be recording his live DVD on Saturday.

The much-awaited concert will be hosted at the Christian Salvation Centre, near the Lesley Manyathela Stadium in Musina Nancefield, and will start at 15:00.

A teacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, mentor, motivational speaker, music ministerial visionary, anointed singer and a song-writer, Mbekwa says the live recording will turn a new leaf in his music career as he believes the initiative will be the best gift for his fans.

Born in Mulenzhe village outside Thohoyandou and bred in Musina, he is the youngest son of the late Apostle Joseph and Pastor Johana Mbekwa. A staunch Christian, he received his calling at an early age. As a pastor’s kid, he started ministering through music, playing piano from the age of seven at the Apostolic Faith Mission Church (AFM) where his parents were pastoring.

"As part of the Sunday school, I developed a love of music and started a group called The Dynamic of Praise and was always given a chance to sing in the church. My love for music developed to a higher level on a daily basis. I released my first album, My worship on the altar, in 2008. The 11-track album, power-packed with local and international touch, jazzy and classic melodies, offers encouragement and perspective through songs that have stood the test of time, yet remain as relevant today as they were decades ago.”

Among the expected guests and entertainers during the live recording of the DVD are television personalities from Muvhango soapie, Suzan, Mulalo and Mulimisi. Guest artists include Rofhiwa Manyaga, Centiana and Robert Nemadzivhanani. Tickets are currently available at Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers at R100 for the general public and R200 for VIP seats.
