The much-awaited Tshivenda movie, Vhuhovheleli, was released last week. It took the producers two years to complete the movie.

The comedy, released by Fireman Production, a new production house in Limpopo, promises to be a big hit. Just a few days after its launch, hundreds of copies have already been sold and the demand is so high that the producers are finding it difficult to cope.

Rudzani Masevhe, who directed the movie and plays Muthotho in the movie, said they tried to portray topical issues with lessons about life. "It's about a man who fraudulently changes his father's will to be the sole beneficiary, which he succeeds in doing. He becomes rich and divorces his wife for a young one, who milks him of all the money and he becomes very poor."

He added that the movie has many lessons and that they want to spread their message across "in this way."

Ndivhoniswani Netshamudzinga, one of the lead actors in the drama, who plays Ndivhoniswani, said besides a seasoned producer and actors like Vhakoma, they managed to unearth untapped and raw talent from the villages, who are still full of energy. "The movie was shot in different locations in the Vhembe area and this is a must-see for everyone. We have done our best and we appreciate the support we got from Good Samaritans who went all out to make this dream of ours a reality," he said.

Those who were fortunate enough to see the film during its launch were full of praises for the new production. "It's awesome. One would be blown away after watching it and it is hard to believe that it was produced here locally and we appreciate the work these boys are doing," said Mashudu Masia, who attended the launch.
