Mob justice

This man fell victim to mob justice on Sunday morning. He was allegedly found in possession of a bag full of highly valued cell phones at a bus stop next to Absa Bank in Thohoyandou.

When he was asked about the phones, he allegedly ran away. That prompted members of the community to believe that he was one of the robbers who are terrorising the area. The man was then assaulted with various objects by the angry mob but was later rescued by the police, who appeared at the scene.

The spokesperson for the SAPS in Thohoyandou, Maj Mashudu Malelo, said that no case was opened relating to the incident. He said that the victim was still welcome to open a case.
