Musina Show “an overwhelming success”

For the first time in the history of Musina Annual Show, thousands of fun lovers enjoyedMusangwe (traditional boxing) and wrestling as part of the new attractions for this year’s highly successful event.

The show grounds also overflowed with jubilant music lovers as high-profile local and national artists entertained people during the memorable three-day event.

Big names that left music lovers crying for more included Busiswa, Thebe, Heavy K, Percy Mukwevho, Bellafonte, Black Motion, Ricus Nel, Liza Bronner, Jay, Complexion, Worship House, Taki and Rofhiwa, Zozo and more artists from Musina. What made the show more enjoyable was that no single incident of crime was reported.

Revelers also enjoyed themselves with merry-go-rounds, jumping castles, demonstrations by the South African Police Services and the South African National Defence Force, traditional dances, theatre, drum majorettes and exhibitions.

Municipal spokesperson Wilson Dzebu said the annual show was an overwhelming success, due to the fact that the municipality took the responsibility of organizing it like they did last year. “We did not outsource the show to an external service provider. We had to make sure that we restore the pride of our people by organizing a vibrant show like we did last year. We are satisfied that we have achieved our goal of taking back the Musina Annual show to its former glory days.”

Dzebu said up-and-coming entrepreneurs also had a splendid time to market their small businesses to the public during the annual show. “The show also provided an ideal platform for small business to network with government institutions, companies and other organizations that may consider appointing them as service providers.”

One of the fun lovers who attended the show is Dalton Mbobvu, who said that they were happy to note "that our municipality cares for us. We really enjoyed the show and we wish it could come twice per year."

Thousands of people also crossed the border from Zimbabwe to South Africa to attend the event. This is due to the fact that the Musina Municipality in South Africa and the Beit Bridge District Rural Council in Zimbabwe signed a twinning agreement of friendly relations and cooperation on 29 October 2004. The relationship is also aimed at strengthening relations and co-operation in areas around service delivery, economic development, tourism and corporate governance.
