Prof Van Rooy and his wife, Regina, the local minister, Rev Innes Nagel, and Elder Louis Linde

Honour for Oom Koos

 

The Reformed Church in Louis Trichardt honoured well-known Bible translator and former missionary Prof Koos van Rooy during a ceremony on Sunday.

The event took place during the sermon, held by Prof Van Rooy, a day after his 83rd birthday. A framed photograph of him was handed to the congregation to be placed in the photo gallery in the vestry, of all the clerics who had worked in the congregation.

In the photograph are Prof Van Rooy and his wife, Regina, the local minister, Rev Innes Nagel, and Elder Louis Linde. He is a son-in-law of Prof and Mrs Van Rooy and chairman of the ministry committee of the congregation.
