Interpretation Heritage Centre opens in KNP

When visiting the Kruger National Park (KNP), members of the different communities will now be able to determine how their forefathers did things in the past, thanks to the Thulamela Heritage Interpretation Centre.

The centre, which was erected at the Thulamela Heritage Site in the  KNP, was officially opened by the acting mayor of the Thulamela Local Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, last Thursday.

Speaking during the opening of the centre, Maluleke said the eye-catching cultural heritage centre was built at a cost of more than R100 000 and that it would help the local communities and tourists to learn more about how people were living in Thulamela in the past.

The acting head of communications of Sanparks, Mr William Mabasa, said that it was important to conserve and preserve the history of people who stayed in the area from 1240 AD to 1700 AD. He added that basic services such as water and sanitation, refuse removal and proper drainage would be provided regularly by the  KNP in compliance with the environment.
