URGENT NOTICE: VDM warns of water shortages

URGENT NOTICE:

The Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) has warned residents of Louis Trichardt and the surrounding area of possible water shortages.

The spokesperson for the VDM, Mr Matodzi Ralushai, confirmed this morning that the municipality was informed yesterday (17 January) of a raw water pump at the Albasini Water Treatment Plant that had broken down. “We have deployed all available technicians and resources to address the situation. Even the executive mayor has urged the whole team to work as fast as they can to fix the problem,” said Ralushai.

“This morning we heard that there were bearings that needed to be replaced, but it is difficult to confirm if there are additional technical difficulties,” Ralushai added.

It is for this reason that the VDM has taken the precautionary step of warning residents of possible water shortages over the next couple of days.

“Residents must please work sparingly and prepare themselves,” said Ralushai.

Updates will be made available as the situation at the treatment plant progresses.
