1-1 for Atlantis Stars and Disco Five

Mutsha Atlantis Stars dropped four points in their two MMK Administrators League matches during the past weekend. They drew 1-1 with Shayandima Disco Five on Saturday and played to a 2-2 draw with Thohoyandou Development at the Wisdom grounds on Sunday.

As if they were going to bury the home side alive, Atlantis Stars approached the game aggressively, making life difficult for the opposition defence. In the 11th minute, Atlantis opened their account. Their slender striker, Rendani Mudau, finished off a rebound after Rolivhuwa Ravele tried his luck from outside the box.

They continued to dominate proceedings, despite the fact that they were playing against a strong wind. The home side gained momentum towards the end of the first half. They put matters on level terms in the 39th minute. Anza Mudzunga gave the ball a final touch after a scramble within the box.

Realizing that their keeper, Thendo Sibadela, was struggling, the technical staff of Development replaced him with Gift Macebele early in the second half. Development took the lead in the 59th minute. Mulalo Ragadza scored with a header after a corner kick by Brian Mahwai.

Atlantis missed a fortune in the 68th minute. They were awarded a penalty after a defender of Development, Gumani Murashia, handled within his own penalty area. Fhumulani Maemu shot straight at the keeper, who easily palmed the ball away for a corner kick.

Atlantis found the equalizer, however, in the 84th minute through Rotondwa Lishivha. He hooked in the ball after a mix-up in the penalty area.
