Two narrow victories for Tshakhuma RO

Tshakhuma RO United collected the maximum points in their two weekend matches. They beat Univen FC 2-1 at the Univen open grounds on Saturday and went on to collect full points at the expense of Tshedza FC, whom they  beat 1-0 at the Tshakhuma Malaria grounds the following day.

Their match against Univen was played under protest. Univen lodged a protest with the referee after the game. In their protest, Univen indicated that the keeper of United, Adziambei Sigaba, was not properly registered with his team.

United approached the game like a house on fire, but their lone striker, Lufuno “CJ” Mugodi, was well contained. Realizing that Mugodi was heavily marked, United decided to use their flanks to split the opposition defence. In the ninth minute, the visitors from Tshakhuma village broke the deadlock. Their right winger, Mulisa Luvhengo, blasted in a rocket from inside the box.

The referee, Mr Eric Munyai, warned Rofhiwa Tshibubudze of Univen with a card for obstructing Lucky Ndou in the 19th minute. United replaced Johannes Mudau with Thivhulawi Silima towards the end of the first half.

Phanuel Moila of Univen tackled Ndivhuwo Makhado from behind three minutes into the last stanza and he was also reprimanded with a card for that. United replaced their vastly experienced keeper, Adziambei Sigaba, with Thabelo Nefuri in the 59th minute. Univen found the equalizer in the 74th minute when Lucky Nthangeni finished off a rebound after a corner kick that was taken by Solly Muruge.

Takalani Ratshilima of United was brought down within the box in the 84th minute. That was a clear penalty. Elvis Netshidongololo converted from the white spot. A heated argument ensued between the match officials and the players of Univen shortly after the final whistle. A player of Univen, Takalani Tshipani, was given his marching orders for the usage of vulgar words towards the match officials.
