Giyani Hotspurs too hot for Bilika Stars

Giyani Hotspurs were too hot for Bilika All Stars and beat them 4-2 in their final match of the Nedbank Cup group stage at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday.

Both sides approached the game like a house on fire and it was not surprising that all six goals were scored during the first half. Hotspurs were the first to find the net. Their central midfielder, Daniel Mabasa, made no mistake after receiving a beautiful pass from George Nwaila in the 13th minute. The goal was an insult to All Stars. They fought back in the 17th minute when Lawrence Zitha forced his way through the defence of Spurs and blasted in a rocket from inside the penalty box.

In the 25th minute, Spurs took the lead again. John Makhubele gave the ball the final touch after a scramble within the box. Spurs were awarded a penalty in the 29th minute. This after David Sono was brought down within the box. Harry Nkuna converted from the white spot.

All Stars did not stop fighting, despite the fact that victory for Hotspurs was looking certain. They managed to pull one back in the 34th minute. Calvin Khosa headed home, following a corner kick that was taken by Louis Chauke. Morris Manganyi scored Spurs' fourth seven minutes before half time.

In the second half, Hotspurs started to entertain the fans with their dribbling skills, after realizing that victory was almost certain. All Stars threatened to score in the 78th minute. Nelson Hlungwane, the Hotspurs’ defender, cleared the ball from the goal line.
