Peace Lovers shock Tshakhuma Finale

The unexpected happened at the Tshakhuma Malaria grounds when Tshakhuma Peace Lovers rose to the occasion and beat Tshakhuma Finale FC 1-0 in the final of the TD Newlook Soccer Challenge on Saturday.

The result was not a true reflection of the game as Finale dictated the terms from the onset.

Finale came close to scoring in the 11th minute. Mashudu Mukwevho unleashed a powerful ground cutter from the edge of the box. The keeper of Peace Lovers, Ishmael Mabebu, watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net. The goal was, however, disallowed because the referee had already raised his hand for an offside.

The referee’s decision did not go down well with the Finale central defender, Sadam Munyadziwa. Munyadziwa started to protest against the referee’s decision and he was warned with a card for that. The remaining part of the first half was characterized by fruitless attempts by the Finale strikers.

Khuthadzo Mukomafhedzi, the Finale keeper, made his presence felt in the 54th minute. He stretched to the limit to execute a brilliant save after Maano Ravele tried his luck from the 25-meter area. The goal which separated the boys from the men came in the 64th minute. Anzani Madzivhandila blasted in a rocket, following a neat pass by Nkhumbuleni Mukwevho.

Peace Lovers gave their midfielders time to rest by volleying from behind. The strategy managed to frustrate their opponents. Tsepo Ganyane of Peace Lovers went into the referee’s book for a late tackle on Fhulufhelo Mukwevho in the 84th minute.
