The opening matches of the annual Taki’s Games Tournament will be played this weekend.
According to one of the organizers, Mr Takalani Rabali, 32 teams from the Nzhelele valley affiliated to the Makhado LFA and the MMK Administrators League will take part in the tournament.
The opening matches will be played at the teams’ open grounds, while the remaining matches will be staged at the Rabali Stadium from 26 to 28 December. The semifinal and final will be played on Saturday, 3 January.
The affiliation fee for participation in the tournament is R300 per team. The winners will receive R8 000, a soccer kit, gold medals and a floating trophy. The runners-up will receive R4 000, soccer kit and silver medals.
The teams booted out in the semifinals will each take home R2 000 and a soccer kit, while teams losing in the quarterfinals will each receive R1 000 and a soccer kit. Altech Autopage, Day Toner Group and Rabali Transport will sponsor the tournament.
According to Rabali, the children from the Rabali Resource Centre will benefit from the income that will be raised during the tournament.
