Maximum points for Ngwenani’s Chiefs

Ngwenani Young Chiefs maintained their leadership on the log by beating Tshififi FC 1-0 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Ngwenani grounds on Sunday.

Tshififi, who are lying at the bottom of the log, forgot about their standing on the log and displayed entertaining football throughout the game. They created a number of scoring chances in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Their top striker, Zachariah Gomboza, received a beautiful pass from Charles Maboho in the 11th minute. He unleashed aimlessly from close range and the ball went far wide, much to the disappointment of the fans.

Chiefs regrouped from behind and took the game to the visitors as the game progressed. They did not stop fighting, even after their midfielder, Ali Themeli, was reprimanded with a card in the 24th minute. Themeli handled the ball intentionally and he was lucky not to see red.

The keeper of Tshififi, Phanuel Maluleke, was made to work in the 37th minute. Chiefs’ overlapping midfielder, Lucky Mugivhela, tried his luck from inside the box. Malulele braved the shot and stretched to the limit to execute a brilliant save. The goal which earned Young Chiefs three league points came two minutes before the end of the first half. Mulalo Ramulondi gave the ball a final touch after a scramble within the box.

Young Chiefs strengthened their striking force by introducing Tshifhiwa Ramatsea and sacrificing Evans Netshitungulu nine minutes into the last half. Young Chiefs came close to scoring again in the 65th minute. Nndateni Netshitadi beat the keeper, Phanuel Maluleke, after the latter advanced out of the penalty box, but the ball went a little wide.
