KK and Maweja Takers in a thrilling draw

In their MMK Administrators' League match at the Tshakhuma Tshiemuemu grounds on Sunday, FC KK rose to the occasion and held the log leaders, Maweja Takers, to a 1-1 draw.

The result was not a true reflection of the game as KK were by far the better side when it came to ball possession. KK could have sealed the game in the first 20 minutes, but Lady Luck was not on their side.

Their overlapping midfielder, Unarine Mukhavhuli, caused an upset nine minutes into the game. He received a neat pass from Ndivhuwo Mulovhedzi and shot aimlessly from just outside the box. Alex Mahlaule, the team’s captain, had a great scoring chance two minutes later. He hesitated for far too long to unleash within the box and ultimately lost possession.

Mahlaule finally proved beyond doubt in the 24th minute that he was not the team’s captain by default. He capitalized on the keeper’s clearing error to finish off a rebound. Lufuno Mudau of KK was booked for a dangerous tackle on Ipfi Muthubi in the 27th minute.

Although Muthubi sustained an injury during the incident, he continued with the game as if he knew that he was going to save the team. Muthubi’s time came in the 37th minute. He headed home, following a brilliant pass by Joseph Ndou.

KK were unstoppable for the remaining part of the first half, but their strikers continued to fumble at the goal finish. Maweja Takers introduced Takalani Ramagalela at the expense of Eugene Munyai early in the last half.

KK did not just stand aside and look on when Maweja effected the change to their starting lineup; instead, they responded by replacing Percy Mabasa with Aluwani Mudzunga in the 64th minute. Although Maweja lost shape in the middle of the park as the game progressed, their captain, Khuliso Netshaulu, remained a live wire.
