Giyani Hotspurs crush Dynamos in Mopani derby

Last weekend was an ugly one for Dynamos FC. They could not stop their neighbours, Giyani Hotspurs, from walloping them 1-4 in their Mopani derby at the Giyani Stadium on Saturday.

Although they managed to collect the maximum points, Giyani Hotspurs are already out of the league championship race.

The unexpected happened at the Ephraim Mohale Stadium in Modimolle on Sunday, where the tail-enders, Modimolle Aces, rose to the occasion and beat Joe Express 4-0. Aces enjoyed more ball possession from the onset, with their midfielders dishing out some telling passes from time to time.

Mosesetjane All Stars were the hardest hit. They suffered a devastating 0-6 defeat at the hands of Lephalale Young Killers at the TT Cholo Stadium in Polokwane. Young Killers meant business from the onset and it was not surprising when they opened their account three minutes into the game. Lawrence Maselope, who scored a brace in the game, beat the keeper with a ground cutter. What followed thereafter was one-way traffic, with All Stars at the receiving end.

After dropping league points in their last two matches, Polokwane United made a comeback and beat A1 Terrors 2-1. Terrors were the first to find the net through David Nkoana, but they could not hold on to the lead as United found the equalizer towards the end of the first half.

Bellevue Winners Park gave away points to Winners Park, to whom they narrowly lost 0-1 at the Mahwelereng Stadium in Mokopane. Bilika All Stars went back to Giyani with empty hands, following their 1-3 defeat by Mighty FC at the Seshego Stadium. Great North FC lost 0-2 to The Dolphins in their Polokwane derby at the Eldorado Stadium.
