2-1 Victory for the Univen students

Univen FC collected full points at the expense of Tshakhuma Na Ndilani (TNN), whom they beat 2-1 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Univen open grounds on Sunday.

TNN could not create enough scoring chances from the midfield as their holding midfielder, Desmond Netshiungani, was tightly marked. Netshiungani became frustrated by the fact that he could not do as he pleased. He vented his frustration by starting to demonstrate his rough skills. He did not get far with his wrongdoings as the referee warned him with a card for dangerous play in the 17th minute.

The home side were the first to draw blood. Stanley Muruge beat the keeper with a half-volley. The keeper of TNN, Given Mulaudzi, stretched to the limit, but his effort was not good enough to save the ball. The goal was a wake-up call to the players of TNN. They took the game to the home side and found the equalizer in the 38th minute. Fhatuwani Mudau was on target, following a neat pass from Prince Lekgau.

The score was still 1-1 when the teams adjourned for the half-time break. TNN fought the last 35 minutes of the game with their hands tied behind their backs. Their midfielder, Desmond Netshiungani, was given his marching orders, following a continued argument with the referee. TNN did not stop fighting, despite the setback. In the 70th minute, their diminutive striker, Ndamulelo Mukwevho, shot aimlessly from close range. The ball went far wide, much to the disappointment of the team’s fans.

The goal which made the difference came in the 84th minute. Riphuluse Phaswana blasted in a rocket from inside the box.
