Black Leopards striker Roggert Nyundu will leave Leopards after the play-off matches.

Nyundu to return to Polokwane City FC

Black Leopards will have to scout for new strikers next season, following Polokwane City FC’s announcement that they want to bring back giant striker Roggert “Walktal” Nyundu after the National First Division (NFD) play-offs. Nyundu joined Leopards on a loan agreement this season.

Polokwane City's chief operation officer, Mr Tincy Tema, said last Wednesday during a press conference held at the club house in Polokwane that Nyundu belonged to City and would rejoin the team after the play-off matches.

Tema also denied the allegations that the team was in negotiations with their previous coach, Vladslav Heric. The contract of their current coach, Kostadin Papic, will end in a few months’ time. He said while Papic’s contract ran until the end of June, the club had already exercised its right and renewed his contact for next season. “This means Papic will still be coaching City in the coming season and is going nowhere,” he said.

“Rumours that we are in negotiation with Heric are highly disturbing. The truth is that we have no ambition to negotiate with Heric. The rumours didn’t sit well with Papic, supporters, sponsors or the people of Limpopo as a whole,” he said.

Papic said he was happy that he had fulfilled one of his mandates, namely to save the team from relegation to the first division. He said his target for the new season was stabilising the team. “We are going to introduce new players, but there will be no open trials,” Papic said.

Black Leopards' spokesperson, Mr Barry Ramunenyiwa, said that as a team they could not comment now about the loss of Nyundu. He confirmed that Nyundu’s contract will expire next month. He said that they were now concentrating on the play-off matches. After the play-off matches, they will hold a press conference and make announcements about the new players.
