Anchors crowned as Commac champs

The much-talked about Commac Cup derby between Tshiozwi Anchors and Zoutpansberg Powerline at the Makhitha grounds ended in a goalless draw on Saturday. The winner was determined by penalty shoot-out and Anchors won the match 4-2.

The game was a balanced affair in the first 20 minutes, but Powerline created more scoring opportunities. Anchors started to demonstrate their rough skills in the middle of the first half. The referee, Mr Mpfariseni Musekwa, calmed the situation by reprimanding Takalani Sadiki with a card after Sadiki had brutally tackled Rudzani Nebulu from behind.

The keeper of Achors, Ndivhuwo Fhetani, made his presence felt in the 34th minute. Powerline were awarded a free kick just outside the box.Ndwakhulu Malebane unleashed from the set piece. Fhetani impressed even the opponents when he braved the hot shot and executed a brilliant save.

Anchors' midfielder, Nkhuli Ramudzwagi, was lucky to get away with a yellow card. He handled the ball intentionally, but the referee felt for him as he only flashed a yellow card when everyone thought he would be taking an early shower.

Powerline enjoyed ball possession throughout the last half, but they were unfortunate. The keeper of Anchors Ndivhuwo Fhethani was named goalkeeper of the tournament as he saved four penalties.
