Happy Fighters the Top Four champs

Kuruleni Happy Fighters are the 2015 Top Four Soccer Challenge champions. They beat Tshakhuma Na Ndilani (TNN) 7-6 in the final at the Kuruleni grounds on Sunday.

Happy Fighters were presented with R1 600 during a ceremony that was held at the grounds shortly after the final. TNN received R400.

The other two teams that participated in the tournament were Hozana Citizens and Bofulamato FC. Happy Fighters beat Bofulamato FC 5-4 in the first semifinal match earlier that day.

The semifinal match between TNN and Citizens was not played to the finish. TNN were awarded a free kick just outside the box 18 minutes before the end of the regulation time. The referee’s decision did not go down well with both the players and officials of Hozana. The officials invaded the pitch as a way to vent their anger. They confronted the referee angrily, accusing him of favoritism.

The organizers had to intervene and rescued the referee. At that stage, Hozana were leading 1-0. The officials of Hozana then ordered their players to leave the pitch and pack their bags and go. Realizing that the game had been abandoned, the organizers declared the match a walkover for Tshakhuma Na Ndilani, who met the hosts, Kuruleni Happy Fighters, in the final.
