Musholombi winner of youth challenge

Musholombi FC were crowned as the champions of the Makhushu/Musholombi Youth Development Soccer Challenge when they beat Makushu Mataks 1-0 in the final at Musekwa on Saturday.

The game provided huge entertainment from the onset. It took the referee only nine minutes to flash the first yellow card. Abram Mudzhiba of Musholombi was reprimanded for ignoring the referee’s whistle. He kicked the ball away long after the referee had blown the whistle for an offside.

The keeper of Mataks, Collen Ramufhi, made his presence felt in the 24th minute. Shoni Maluleke of Musholombi unleashed a half volley from inside the box, and Ramufhi executed a brilliant save.

Mataks came close to scoring in the 34th minute. Collen Ramufhi received a beautiful pass from Rofhiwa Rabali within the box and hesitated for too long and eventually lost possession. Musholombi solidified their midfield by introducing Petrus Sebola and sacrificed Trust Musekwa.

The goal which separated the boys from the men came in the 67th minute. Shoni Maluleke hit the back of the net after a free kick taken by Abram Madzhiba. Mataks replaced Rofhiwa Rabali with Robbie Ramaremisa later in the game.
