Can Mulovhedzi win the coveted belt?

Tsiko Mulovhedzi (28) of Mbaleni will meet champion Ali Funeka of East London in an International Boxing Organization world welterweight title fight at the International Convention Centre in East London tonight (Friday).

The fight will take place over 12 rounds.

Mulovhedzi said that he was not moved by his opponent's threats to dent his record and that he had nothing to fear from Funeka. "We are prepared well for the the event and I am sure that we will bring home the championship belt."

He said that Funeka should not make the mistake to think "that we are going there for a holiday” and that he was not going to travel all the way to East London to lose.

Mulovhedzi said that he would use the fight as a springboard to a national title fight that could take place soon. “I am ready. I am fit physically and emotionally and with the support coupled with the training that I am busy with, there is no way my opponent can beat me."

The fight will be televised on SABC 2 at 21:30.
