Sea Robbers the new Mabena champs

Wayeni Sea Robbers were crowned the new champions of the Mabena Mashamba soccer tournament after they hammered Mulima FC 4-0 at the Mashamba grounds a fortnight ago.

The game started at a high pace, with Robbers breaking the deadlock in the fourth minute. Engetani Sambo caught the keeper of Mulima napping and beat him with a ground cutter.

Gasper Maluleke, who scored a brace in the game, made his presence felt in the 29th minute when he beat three defenders in a row before showing the keeper the wrong way. Shortly thereafter, Vongani Manyike of Mulima was reprimanded with a card for a dangerous tackle on Kulani Madlakati. The score at the break was 2-0 for the team from Wayeni.

Gasper Maluleke completed his brace in the 67th minute. He finished off a rebound after Engetani Sambo’s close-range attempt missed the target. Robbers put matters beyond doubt when Chezy Ngomane scored his team's fourth goal in the 77th minute, when he beat the keeper with a ground cutter.

Kulani Madlakati of Sea Robbers was named player of the tournament. The top goal scorer award went to Chezy Ngomane, the youngest player award to Alifheli Sivhi of Mulima and the coach of the tournament went to Mr JJ Amukelani of Sea Robbers. Thabelo Tshikweta of Mulima won the fair play award and Hlamulo Makhubele of Sea Robbers was the goalkeeper of the tournament.
