MTG Funerals to sponsor knock-out for development teams

The local branch of MTG Funerals will sponsor a knock-out soccer competition for disadvantaged teams from the Sinthumule and Kutama area.

The manager of MTG, Mr Shudu Magwabeni, said on Monday that his company was happy to be able to contribute towards the development of sport in the rural areas. “This is part of our company’s mission of giving something back to the community. We hope other companies will learn that it is important to reward members of the community because they are the ones who made us what we are today," he said.

He also mentioned that his company would always support the development of sport and that it encouraged players to work hard. The organiser of the competition, Mr Chippa Mathelemusa, was on cloud nine after receiving the donation. “We thank MTG for their kind gesture and we hope they will continue assisting the deprived communities."

Eight teams will participate in the knock-out. The fixtures for Saturday at Gogobole are Benny’s Care vs Murunwa Academy at 13:00 and Gogobole Bucs vs Magau United at 15:00. At the Manavhela grounds, the fixtures are Midoroni Real Hearts vs Maebane Aces United at 13:00 and Manavhela Black Aces vs Muduluni Young Chiefs at 15:00.

The finals will be played on Sunday. The winners will go home with R2 000, a new soccer kit and a floating trophy. The runners-up will receive R1 000 and a new soccer kit.
