TNN the Amos Charity champs

Tshakhuma Na Ndilani FC (TNN) won the Amos Charity Shield, when they beat Maweja Takers 3-2 in the final at the sports fields of Levubu Laerskool last Saturday.

TNN made their intentions clear from the onset. Their fast forwards, Ndamulelo Mukwevho, Thabiso Lekgau and Khathutshelo Mudau, forced the defence of Maweja to play with their backs against the wall for the better part of the first half. TNN opened their account in the 14th minute when Khathutshelo “Adibayo” Mudau beat the offside trap and scored with a half volley.

Maweja then replaced their centre back, Vutomi Mahlaule, with Walter Netshimbulu. TNN responded by introducing Rofhiwa “Danger” Netshiungani at the expense of Eric Matlou. Netshiungani formed a deadly combination with Rolivhuwa Mukwevho in the middle of the park.

Takers scored in the 29th minute when Takalani Mashila blasted in a rocket, following a square pass from Khumbudzo Muvhango. Thabiso Lekgau of TNN handled the ball intentionally two minutes later and he was lucky to go away with a yellow card.

TNN effected another change to their starting line-up. They replaced Ndivhuwo Mukwevho with Oscar Ntshauba in the 54th minute and about six minutes later, Gift Nemutandani scored the second goal for TNN with a volley. Maweja lost shape in the middle of the park soon afterwards.

TNN capitalized to score the third in the 69th minute, when Khathutshelo Mudau hit the back of the net after a breakdown in communication between the keeper of Maweja and his defenders.

Maweja replaced Zwivhuya Tshisaphungo with Takalani Ramagalela later in the game. They pulled one back in the 84th minute via Walter Netshiumbulu, who scored with a header.

TNN received R10 000, a floating trophy, soccer kit and gold medals during a ceremony held at the stadium shortly after the final. Maweja Takers took home a cash prize of R6 000 and silver medals. The third prize of R3 500 and bronze medals went to Tshakhuma RO United, while FC KK, who obtained the fourth position, received R1 000. Tshakhuma RO United beat FC KK 3-2 in their losers’ final match earlier that day.

In the final of the U/13 category earlier that day, TNN Academy beat Shooting Stars 1-0 and took home a cash prize of R3 500 and a floating trophy. The U/13 individual awards were presented to Maboho Nevari (player of tournament), Rambu Rambau (top goal scorer), Thabo Munyai (most disciplined player), Smile Mabadzhabadzha (best goalkeeper) and Maboho Nevari (man of the match).

The individual awards for the senior category were presented to Walter Mphigalale (top goal scorer), Zwivhuya Tshisaphungo (player of the tournament), Fhatuwani Nemusumani (best keeper), Mashudu Mukhari (most disciplined player) and Mr Mashudu Ndou (coach of the tournament.

During the ceremony, a representative from the sponsors, Mr Mulalo  Thabela, revealed that his family will continue to sponsor the tournament in the coming years and that the sponsorship amount will increase with time. This year’s tournament was sponsored to the tune of R70 000.
