Clean audit for Safa Vhembe

Just like the previous three seasons, the Vhembe Region of the South African Football Association (Safa) has maintained a clean audit for the 2014/15 soccer season.

This was revealed during the association’s annual congress recently held at the Vhafamadi Hotel in Sibasa. When addressing the meeting, the league’s president, Mr George Kubayi, stated that Vhembe Region “was the best in the country when it comes to financial management.” He also indicated that sponsors and donors do not associate themselves with the associations whose financial administration is under suspicion.

According to him one of the reasons for MMK Administrators to increase their sponsorship with his association was that they realized that Safa Vhembe has a sound financial management team. MMK increased the sponsorship from R400 000 to R450 000 last season.

Kubayi also revealed that the region has a total of 143 affiliate members this season and that the teams which were affiliated to his association shared a total of R687 000 in prize money last season.

When presenting the executive committee’s report, the league’s general secretary, Mr Eric Muneri, stated that the association had a lot of things to be proud of. He said that his region has produced three referees to the national panel. The three whistle men who are doing duty at professional level are Messrs Olani Kwinda, Jelly Chabani and Shumani Tinyani.

The report also reveals that there was a decline in the number of misconduct cases by the clubs last season. A total of 19 clubs were found charged and ultimately found guilty of assaulting match officials last season.
