Leopards finish league with a victory

After suffering a 1-2 home defeat at the hands of Santos at the Thohoyandou Stadium two weeks ago, Black Leopards made amends and collected full points at the expense of another Cape Town side, Vasco da Gama, in Cape Town on Sunday.

Leopards won 1-0 at the Parow Park Stadium, with Ndamulelo Mungadi scoring the all-important winning goal in the 22nd minute.

The unexpected happened at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa, where Highlands Park crushed Amazulu 4-1. Mbombela United finished their league programme on a high note, following their 1-0 victory over Cape Town All Stars at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit. Thanda Royal Zulu’s 3-2 victory over African Warriors was good enough to ensure that Thanda retain their NFD status. Boikanyo Komane, Michael Gumede and Sonke Ntuli scored for Thanda, while Warriors scored via Thamsanga Ngema and Katlego Maphathe.

Witbank Spurs were too strong for Moroka Swallows, whom they brutally walloped 5-1 at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni. Edwin Shitayitayi scored Swallows’ solitary goal, while Cleopas Dube, Mahlatse Mthabine (brace), Patrick Mubayiwa and Bongani Shabalala scored Spurs' goals.

Mthatha Bucks lost 1-3 to Royal Eagles, while FC Cape Town beat Santos 2-1 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
