Majozi Embassy were crowned as the champions of MTG/PIB Soccer Challenge for the Makhado LFA, after beating Tshithuthuni Remember my Promise 5-4 at the Ravele Dragons field on Saturday.
The winner was determined through a penalty shoot-out, as the teams played to a 0-0 draw.
The manager of MTG/PIB, Mr Shudu Magwabeni, said that the sponsor had clearly indicated that his company wanted to serve members of the community in order to bring development of sport to the area. "We are part of this community and we are doing this to support local people," he said.
The coordinator, Mr Chipa Mathelemusa, praised the team managers and players for their dedication and commitment during their matches.
The president of Malfa, Mr Joseph Maphaha, thanked all the sponsors for their decision to sponsor football. "I'm very proud that we have grown young people of real quality," he said. He stated that he was convinced that the league would produce stars who would receive international recognition soon.
Maphaha further said that his association appreciated “the selfless contributions” of Limpopo Dairy, Elim Spar, Vuwani Spar, Africa Hardware and Vho-Makhadzi Funerals, who were all in the forefront of developing the local youth. "Despite the difficult economic conditions, we still find companies that are prepared to share their takings and support us."
A prize of R6 000 and a floating trophy went to Majozi Embassy. The runners-up, Tshithuthuni Remember My Promise, collected R4 000 and new soccer kit. Guvhungwa or X1 Worries went home with R3 000 and new soccer kit. The prize of R2000 and soccer kit was collected by Makhitha UP The Brooms, who finished in fourth position.

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality.
