World title boxing bout in Thohoyandou

Two local fighters, Norman Tshisikhawe and Humbulani Netshamutshedzi, will fight for the  vacant WBF Junior welterweight title over 12 rounds in Thohoyandou tomorrow evening.

Mulenzhe World Sports Promotion, in partnership with Vhembe District Municipality, will stage a historic professional boxing tournament at the Thohoyandou Town Hall, with the world title fight the main attraction.

Five bouts will be staged, with the opening one featuring a local boxer, Mpfariseni Khorommbi, and Steven Dewu from Gauteng. Khorommbi and Dewu’s lightweight bout match is scheduled over four rounds.

Another boy from the local stable, Tendani Munyai, will exchange blows with Mxonywa Tholakele from Gauteng in their bantamweight bout over six rounds. A provincial title bout between Balanganani Ndou and Pfariso Neluvhalani is the next event on the programme. Both Ndou and Neluvhalani are home boys.

After vanishing from the boxing ring for several years, Philip “Time Bomb” Ndou will be back in action tomorrow. He will try his luck against Chimwemwe Chiotcha from Malawi in their light-middleweight bout over eight rounds, before Tshisikhawe and Netshamutshedzi will meet in the ring.

According to the matchmaker, Mr Ephraim Simba, history will be made tomorrow as all the three officials who will officiate in the main bout are locals. Admission tickets will only be available at the town hall gate tomorrow afternoon at R100 for adults and R50 for juveniles.
