MMK Administrators has increased their sponsorship of Safa Vhembe from R450 000 to R550 000. This was announced by the general manager of the company, Pastor Thomas Ramuhuyu, during the association’s prize-giving ceremony at the Munakisi Hall in Muledane last Friday evening.
Pastor Ramuhuyu stated that they were impressed by the manner in which Safa Vhembe were administering their finances.
About R700 000 in cash prizes was distributed to 142 clubs affiliated to the association last season. Madridtas FC went home with the biggest cheque. They were presented with a cheque of R40 000 and a floating trophy. Madridtas represented Safa Vhembe in the provincial play-offs, but they could not make the grade. After receiving the team’s trophy, the managing of Madridtas, Mr Ndivhuwo “DJ” Nthai, confirmed that his team will be campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League when the activities for the new season start on the first weekend of September.
He also revealed that one of their players, Eethe Khaukanani, has joined Orlando Pirates on a three-year contract.
United Artists, who finished in the second place during the promotional playoffs, were given a cash prize of R30 000. A cheque to the value of R25 000 was handed over to Tshakhuma Na Ndilani FC, who obtained the third position in the promotional play-offs. Rambuda Young Fighters became R20 000 richer during the ceremony.
The other five teams that also took part in the promotional play-offs, Makhitha Oscar Stars, Musina United, Matsika Shooting Stars, Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions and Wayeni Sea Robbers, were each presented with R12 000. Teams that finished their league programmes in the second position in their respective streams were each presented with R7 000.
During the ceremony, 20 coaches who completed their Safa C license course were presented with their certificates. It was also announced that the fixtures for the new season will be available at the clubs meeting that will be held on Saturday, September 3. The activities for the new season are scheduled to start over the weekend of 10 and 11 September.
