Mamu launches Heritage Day tournament

 

Mamu Community Sports Development recently launched the Vhembe Heritage Day tournament and several local teams will participate at the Mabaleng Sports Centre on 24 September.

The matches are Muraleni United Brothers vs Gogobole Bucs (09:00); Muraida Youth Development vs Madabani Zout Powerline (11:00); Sinthumule Kutama Masters vs Nzhelele Masters (13:00), and Tshiozwi U/15 vs Sinthumule Kutama U/15.

The final match will take place at 15:30 and the mayor of the Makhado Municipality, Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi, will present a trophy to the winning team.

The champions will also receive R4 000, 30 gold medals, and hampers from different sponsors. The runners-up will be given at least R2 000, 30 silver medals and hampers.

Netball matches will take place from 10:00 to 14:00 and the eventual champions will receive R2 000 in cash, a floating trophy, and 20 gold medals. The runners-up will receive R1 000 and 20 silver medals.

The children will be treated to a playground where they can enjoy climbing, jumping castles, playing chess, and other games for children.

The general secretary of Mamu Community Sports Development, Mr Jafter Mamugudubi, thanked all sponsors who had contributed to making the event possible.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. He is a prolific writer who published his first book, titled A Traumatic Revenge in 2011. It focusses on life on the street and how to survive amidst poverty. His second book titled The Violent Gestures of Life was published in 2014.
