4 - 0 for Leopards!

Black Leopards registered their second victory in a row when they mauled Milano United 4-0 in their NFD league match at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors from Cape Town looked hopeless from the onset. As if they were leading, Milano played defensive football from the first whistle. That gave Lidoda Duvha enough chance to invade their territory. The home side could have scored at least four goals within the first 45 minutes, but their strikers seemed to be shy at the goal box.

Their Zambian forward, Mwepe Musonda, came close to scoring in the 14th minute. His ground cutter missed the target by inches.

The referee, Mr Siphiwe Biyela, flashed the first yellow card in the 18th minute. Freddy Smith of Milano tackled Hlabane Kutumela of Leopards illegally and the referee was quick to produce yellow. Leopards took the lead in the 29th minute when Sphelele Mkhulise blasted in a rocket after a scramble within the box. The score was still 1-0 at half time.

It took Leopards 54 minutes to increase the tally. Sphelele Mkhulise completed his brace when he headed home, following an excellent pass from Khayelihle Shozi. Lidoda Duvha completed their substitution chances by introducing Ndamulelo Mugadi, Tebogo Reed and Alushavhiwi Marubini for Mwape Musonda, Siphelele Mkhulise and Lebohang Mabotja respectively.

The last 20 minutes of the game was a one-way traffic flow, with Milano at the receiving end. Phathutshedzo Nange, the overlapping right back, blasted in a rocket in the 74th minute, following a neat pass by Khayelihle Shozi. Ivan Mahangwahaya was on target in the 79th minute. He scored with a header. A substitute for Leopards, Tebogo Reed, was also booked later in the game after he had obstructed Calvin September just outside Milano’s penalty box.
