In a unique venture, several organisations and individuals clubbed together to donate a R75 000 emergency water supply scheme to the residents of Laat Lente en Herfsakker in Louis Trichardt.
Eight water tanks with pressure pumps were installed on the premises of Laat Lente en Herfsakker through the combined efforts of Rotary, Round Table, the MOTHS, SACM, Freemasons and Lucas Vermeulen.
The project was officially handed over last week.
Rotary's Godfrey Went said at the handing over that the project was the first ever venture for which so many roleplayers had pooled their recources to assist a vulnerable part of the community.
On behalf of the residents of Laat Lente, Ms Jackie van Niewenhuizen expressed profound joy over the project.
"This is a tremendous gift - a standby water reserve consisting of four water tanks. Thank you for your kindness - we feel truly blessed," she said.
The project was installed just in time to save the residents from the serious privation of yet another unannounced cut in the municipal water supply, which lasted longer than 48 hours.
