Three boys hanged in their home

MBILWI - Tragedy struck the village of Mbilwi-Makanga this week when three children were found hanging from the rafters of their home. The children’s father stands accused of the heinous crime of killing his offspring.

The three children, Adivhaho (9), Alilali (7) and Mashudu (3) Thavhanyedza were allegedly killed by their father after a prolonged argument between their parents. A family member, who chose to remain anonymous, told Mirror that the mother was forced to apply for a court injunction against her husband, after the couple had been engaged in heated arguments over the last week.

The children’s mother is a nurse at the Tshilidzini hospital, while the father is a teacher at the Mamathieledza Primary School in Mangondi.

The two older children attended school at the Hillmary Private School in Thohoyandou, and the youngest went to the community créche at Makanga.

A spokesperson for the family revealed that the family of the children is totally devastated by the horrific events. Understandably, it is very difficult to continue with everyday life after such a traumatic experience. At this point, funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized. A preliminary date has been set for 11 September (next week), but the family is in need of financial assistance and can therefore not yet go ahead with the finalization of these arrangements. Any assistance from the side of the community will be most welcome and greatly appreciated.

The spokesperson of the SAPS in the region, Capt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, indicated that the father of the three children, who is the chief suspect, has been apprehended. He was arrested on Tuesday night at Tshivhulani, near the main road to Sibasa. He is due to appear in court soon.
