Tshima award winner for the best Tshivenda Gospel Artist Lufuno Dagada has once more shown who is the real boss in local gospel circles.
Together with the Sama awards' recent best song of the year winner, S’fiso Ncwane of Kulungile fame, he filled the Thohoyandou Town Hall to capacity on Saturday.
Ncwane, who performed in Limpopo for the first time, shared the stage with Dagada during Dagada's album launch. Dagada's latest offering, My Practical God, was recorded at the Pretoria State Theatre in March.
The two stars collaborated in songs like Iwe U Yehova, Zwo Luga, Kulungile and Sibakanyana.
The fans who arrived long before the start of the show were kept on their toes for almost four hours by the electric performance of Dagada, who sang most of the songs from his latest album. When S’fiso ascended the stage, singing Zwo Luga Zwo Luga, the fans who had been eagerly waiting for him went wild. He performed some of his well-known songs before going into deep worship music.
When he knelt down and started praying, the fans sang along, with some weeping.
The song Kulungile, which took his career to another level, was like a national anthem, with all joining in the singing. When Dagada joined him on stage, the house was on fire, with marshals battling to control the crowds who wanted to have a glimpse of the stars in close proximity.
Towards the end of the show, S’fiso called upon all men of God who were present to the stage, where they prayed together for Dagada that his music career might prosper. "It is wonderful to be here and to receive such a warm welcome from the children of God. Sharing the stage with Lufuno was an eye-opener. I have learnt many things and I have all the respect for this great artist."
