ANC veteran joins National Freedom Party

An African National Congress (ANC) veteran, Mr James Delekisa, recently joined the National Freedom Party (NFP).

Delekisa was elected as the NFP´s provincial general secretary during a conference in Polokwane a fortnight ago. He resigned after serving for more than 35 years in the ANC.

According to him, he served in many ANC structures. "I do not have a problem with the ANC, but just decided that I needed a change. That´s why I joined the NFP. I joined the party out of choice," he said.

He added that the NFP was prepared to work for the people. "We are even prepared to contest during the on-coming local government by-elections, due to the resignation of several ANC ward councillors," said Delekisa, adding that he knews that his organization would win some of the wards in the by-elections. According to him, the resignation of ANC ward councillors is "an opportunity of a lifetime" for his party.

The NFP is a break-away party from the IFP, under the leadership of its National President, Mrs Magwaza Msibi.

Delekisa added that he was going to ensure that they launch party structures in all the wards across the province before the end of October. The NFP has also launched its youth wing in Limpopo at an elective conference, and Mulalo Mkhathini was elected provincial chairperson.
