Soccer Challenge to honour Mabena

 

The Mabena Soccer Challenge will be played at the Mashamba grounds on Saturday and Sunday.

According to Mr Freddy Mashamba, the main aim of the tournament is to honour the late soccer guru, Mr Joseph “Mabena” Mashamba, who played a vital role in the development of soccer players in the area. The teams that will participate in the tournament are Mashamba Soccer Academy, Mashamba Benfica United, Mukondeni Ratanang, Mulima, Wayeni Sea Robbers, Madazhi Eversmiling, Mukondeni Shooting Stars and Muwaweni Lucky Stars.

The winners will receive R3 000, gold medals and a floating trophy. The runners-up will receive R2000 and silver medals. The third-placed team will receive R1 200 and bronze medals and the fourth-placed team R800.

The player, coach, top goal scorer, fairplay player, most disciplined team and young player of the tournament will receive trophies.

Kaizer Nengovhela
