Sad day for Miluwani Happy Boys

Makovha All Stars gave Miluwani Happy Boys a day to remember when they beat them 2-0 in their SAB League match at the Miluwani grounds on Sunday.

Happy Boys were only strong at the back and in the midfield, but their strikers were hopeless. The game was lukewarm in the first 15 minutes, but got hotter over time. All Stars knocked at their opponents’ door in the 18th minute. Their right winger, Hudson Matamela, unleashed from outside the box. The ball hit the woodwork and bounced back into the field of play.

That did not kill Stars’ fighting spirit. They continued to fight like a united team until they were rewarded with a goal in the 26th minute. They were awarded a free kick a few yards outside the box. Azwifaneli Netsianda took the ball from the place kick. The ball landed within the penalty box, from where Hudson Matamela beat the keeper with a half volley.

The home side gained momentum as the game progressed, but Lady Luck was not on their side. Ndivhuwo Mpfuni was the first player to be cautioned. He tackled Khathutshelo Tshobota from behind and the referee, Mr Mphireni Mphephu, was lenient enough to let him go with yellow.

All Stars increased the margin in the 38th minute. Vhatali Munyai was on target after a neat pass by Mashudu Muthabeni.

Happy Boys replaced Ndivhudzannyi Mmbara with Philelo Nemadandila four minutes into the last half. All Stars responded by introducing Phumudzo Mugwena for Mulanga Mudau a little later.

Happy Boys tried everything within their reach in their search for goals, but it was not their day.
