Stars to test strength against Swallows

THOHOYANDOU – Moroka Swallows will be lucky if by chance they manage to get away with a point, when they test their strength against Highlandspark Silver Stars in the only weekend Castle Premiership League match. It will be played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

The Stars' general manager, Mr Thamaga Mokgopi, stated that they are taking the game seriously, considering the fact that they are still to win a league match since they gained promotion to the elite league this season. "Our performance is superb, but we have not scored enough goals to win us a league match to date," he said. He said they do not want to commit suicide by focusing on the Coca-Cola matches and forget about the league, as the league matches determine their fate in the country's biggest league, the PSL. Both teams played well in their Coca-Cola Cup matches last weekend.

Silver Stars used their homeground advantage fruitfully when they crushed Supersport United 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday. Moroka Swallows beat Sundowns Football Club 2-1 at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria at the same time.

Silver Stars will deposit full points into their league account for the first time, if their performance against Supersport United last weekend is anything to go by. They displayed marvellous football in all departments throughout the thrilling game.

Moroka Swallows rely mostly their striker, Lucas Sebone, and goalkeeper, Greg Etafia. Silver Stars will have an easy game if they manage to neutralize the two. The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 and will be screened live on television.
