Floating trophy for Mukula Young Santos

 

Mukula Young Santos are still celebrating after they were crowned the 2012 Mphathele Mukula Soccer Challenge champions. They beat Mutavhe Young Rovers 4-2 in the final for the competition at the Tshidza-Tsha-Maria ground on 31 December.

Santos were presented with a floating trophy, gold medals and R4 000 during a ceremony that was held at the grounds shortly after the final. Rovers received R3 500 and silver medals, while the third-placed Mukula Avalon took home R3000. Mukula Mighty Killers, who obtained the fourth position, received R2 500.

The teams that were booted out of the competition in the quarterfinal stage, Mukula Equator FC, Mukula Fast XI, Mukula Arsenal and Mukula Jamaican Stars, each went home with R2 000.

Santos’ Rastafarian striker, Rendani Madega, was voted the player of the tournament and the team’s keeper, Ronewa Mavhungu, won the keeper of the tournament award. Justice Munyai of Mukula Young Rovers won the top goal scorer award.
