Whole family wiped out

 

The community around Nzhelele area is still shocked after the death of four people, a mother, father and two sons, who were killed in a horrifying accident at the Witvlag T-junction with the N1 last Friday.

According the police, Mr Phathutshedzo Tshigodime (30), Ms Cynthia Tshigodime (31) and two sons, Benjamin (5) and Daniel (6 months), were on the way home from Makhado town when the accident occurred. They were driving in a Toyota bakkie. Along the way, the car collided head-on with a truck. The family, who were residents of Siloam in the Nzhelele area, died instantly.

A family representative, Mr Petrus Tshigodime, said that the family had accepted the loss, although it was difficult to cope with. "We understand and accept that our beloved children are gone, but it will be very difficult for us to live without them. It is also important to acknowledge the community´s support since we were greeted with the bad news. God has done His will," he said.

King Toni-Mphephu Ramabulana expressed his condolences to the family of the victims and said they would be sorely missed. He added that the community members around the Nzhelele area were deeply touched with the horror of the accident, especially as the victims were still so young. "The family members of the victims need our support in hard times like these and we hope accidents of this nature, which can be prevented, will never again take place on our roads," he said.

The mayor of the Makhado Municipality, Cllr David Mutavhatsindi, expressed his condolences to the family and said that their loved ones would be always be remembered. He said that the family members were totally devastated by the horrific accident. “‘Understandably, it is very difficult to continue with everyday life after such a traumatic experience and the family is in need of support, “he said.

The four will be buried at the Siloam cemetery. The service will start at 06:00.
