Tough opening fixture for Leopards

THOHOYANDOU – The activities in the new Castle Premiership season will start in the first week of next month. The first fixture will be played on Wednesday, August 3. Ajax Cape Town will host Jomo Cosmos at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.

Three matches will be played on Saturday, August 6. Moroka Swallows will host Santos at the Rand Stadiun in Johannesburg. Black Leopards will meet the tough Orlando Pirates at the Ellispark Stadiun in Johannesburg.

Many soccer fanatics are describing the match as “the war between the new Leopards coach, Mr Jean Yves Kerjean and Orlando Pirates.” Kerjean coached the “Buccaneers” in the 2000/1 soccer season. He left the team at the end of that season. It will be time for him to prove a point to the management of Orlando Pirates that they erred when they terminated his contract with them after such a short relationship.

On the same day, Kaizer Chiefs will lock horns with Bush Bucks at the Absa Stadium in East London.

Four matches will be played the following day, Sunday, August 7. The newly promoted Thembisa Classic will host Bloemfontein Celtic at the Mehlareng Stadium in Thembisa. Silver Stars will meet Mamelodi Sundowns at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Dynamos will travel all the way to Pretoria. They will fight for league points against Supersport United at the Super Stadium. The other Castle Premiership newcomers, Free State Stars, will play against Golden Arrows at the Charles Mopedi Stadium in the Eastern Cape.
