Basel FC kept their title hopes alive by crushing Fanang Diatla 3-0 in their Vodacom Promotional League match at the Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.
It was clear from the onset that Fanang Diatla were going to be buried alive, as Basel showed cohesion in all departments. It took the home side only nine minutes to open their account. Shonisani Mukwevho caught the keeper off-guard and blasted in a rocket.
Basel were awarded a penalty moments before the end of the first half. This, after a defender of Dialtla handled the ball within the box. Khumbudzo Muvhango scored from the spot to bring the half-time score to 2-0.
Basel put matters beyond doubt in the 78th minute via Vuledzani Davhana.
In another Vodacom Promotional League match that was played at the same venue earlier that day, Nobela All Stars gave away league points to Baroka FC. Baroka’s solitary goal was good enough to earn them the three valuable points.
In another match, Giyani Hotspurs failed to impress their home crowd when they suffered a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Modimolle Aces.
Super Eagles were the hardest hit. They were brutally walloped 2-7 by the very organized Blue Rocks. This match was played at the Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen.
Rospa United registered their second victory in 15 matches when they beat Phungo All Stars 1-0 at the Tshifulanani Stadium on Saturday.
Magezi FC could not absorb the pressure from the opponents when they suffered a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Lephalale Young Killers at the Seshego Stadium. The match between Winners Park and Dinare FC, which was supposed to have been played at the Mahwelereng Stadium, could not be played, due to a waterlogged pitch.
