Chikala steers Rospa United to much-awaited victory

Sport  Date: 20 April 2012

After battling to collect the maximum points in their previous matches, Rospa United finally snatched an away victory last weekend. They unexpectedly beat Lephalale Young Killers 1-0 in their Vodacom Plromotional League match at the Mogol Stadium on Saturday.
The only goal of the match was scored by Shandukani “Chikala” Mukoma.
Phungo All Stars let the defending champions, Baroka FC, off the hook and allowed them to score a late equaliser. Phungo were leading by a goal to nil for the better part of the game, until their defenders committed a silly mistake, which gave rise to the visitors’ equaliser in the dying minutes of the game. The game was played at the Eltivillas grounds on Saturday.
Baroka’s draw was a blessing in disguise to the other league title chasers, Winners Park FC. Winners Park gave Giyani Hotspurs no chance, as they beat them 1-3 at the Mahwelereng Stadium. The victory means that Winners Park are now leading the pack.
Super Eagles were pushed deep into the relegation quagmire, following their 1-3 defeat at the hands of Modimolle Aces. The victory means that Winners Park are now leading the Limpopo Stream of the Vodacom Promotional League with 2 points. Basel FC failed to impress their supporters when they played to a goalless draw with Blue Rocks at the Malamulele Stadium on Saturday. Nobela All Stars could not absorb the pressure from Magezi FC, who beat them 3-2 at the Seshego Stadium.
